The Graduation of Jake Moon
Our Musical Fundraiser!
Our class presented a musical based on the children's novel by Barbara Parks, "The Graduation of Jake Moon" which was about a boy whose grandfather has Alzheimer's Disease and has to deal with the difficult stages of life. This taught us about his "graduation "or his steps in life and moving on to the next stage. We raised over $950 for Project Hope that we donated to help the victims of the Philippine typhoon with the help of Project Hope. We are very proud of ourselves for this because we worked very hard on it and it really feels good to give back to the world, not just our community. This play was dedicated to the victims of the typhoon in the Philippines and all the struggling people in the world. There are many people around the world who are facing problems with the environment right now. We started it, and now it's up to us to fix it.
During the performance, we sang songs, danced, and had our amazing Bergtraum Band play the background music for us! We all loved being in the play, or if not, helping the backstage crew and playing the music. We have amazing, smart, and one-of-a-kind people in our classroom. But we all are compassionate!
We'd like to thank all the students, staff, and teachers who helped us put on this wonderful show. We had so much fun doing it and knowing that it was for a good cause just brightened our day! Thank you Ms. Cody, our wonderful dance teacher who helped choreograph the dance to the song, "Friendship Train" and our wonderful Mrs. Clyne Davis who, continuously all through this year, supported us and helped us create anything we needed to show the world all the compassion in our heart.
